I was very fortunate to serve on our board with Amanda for the past six years. To sum up Amanda when it comes to board service and board governance: She gets it.
She is a master communicator who knows how to manage both up and down when it comes to working with a board and with management and the organization's membership.. During her board tenure, rising to club president, she really took club governance to heart, knowing where the line was between setting policy and being careful not to step into operations unless asked.
She knows how to really listen and interact with her constituencies -- which include fellow board members, management, staff and most importantly, in our case, club members. She knows the right questions to ask and where to get the pertinent answers. And very importantly, she knows how to balance a strategic vision with practical decision making.
